Rana Daggubati is an Indian actor, producer, television personality, and visual effects coordinator born on 14 December 1984 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Daggubati has starred in Telugu cinema, Tamil cinema, and Hindi cinema.

Rana Daggubati Personal Life

Rana was born and raised in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His father is Daggubati Suresh Babu a Telugu film producer. They are a part of the Daggubati-Akkineni Family. His family members are involved in the film industry. Rana paternal grandfather D. Ramanaidu a Tollywood film producer. His uncle Venkatesh and cousin Naga Chaitanya are actors also. In the year 2006 Rana revealed that he is blind in the right eye and his left eye was transplanted. The surgery took place when he was years old. Rana was operated at V. Prasad Hospital though unsuccessful. He attended Hyderabad Public School which is in Hyderabad. Then later went to Chettinad Vidyashram in Chennai. He currently resides with his family in Hyderabad.

 

Rana Daggubati Acting Career

In 2010 Rana made his acting debut in the Telugu blockbuster Leader which was directed by Shekhar Kammula. The film was a success and earned Rana the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut- South. Later in 2011, he acted in the Dum Maaro Dum his first Bollywood movie alongside Bipasha Basu. The film gained many positive reviews for his acting prowess. The Times of India termed it as an “Awesome debut.” The Times of India Publication poll voted Rana as “The Most Promising Newcomer of 2011”. Rana Daggubati was number 20 on the Times of India’s Most Desirable Men of the year 2011.

The Times of India 2012 poll list of most desirable men put Rana on the position Ten. Rana acted in Naa Ishtam, Department, Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum, and his Tamil debut Aarambam in 2012 which were all box office success. In 2013 he starred in two big-budget movies which are Rudhramadevi and Baahubali in which he is the main villain. In 2017 he starred in India’s first underwater film The Ghazi Attack which received positive reviews.

Rana is also a proclaimed Visual Effects Producer. Through his works, he won awards such as Nandi Award for Best Special Effects in 2006 for the Telugu film Sainkudu. By co-producing Bommalata – A Bellyful of Dreams he received the National Film Award in 2006.

Rana is a celebrated and established television personality. He has hosted awards shows like 2nd IIFA Utsavam, the 2nd South Indian International Movie Awards, and currently hosts his celebrity talk show Yaari which brings out celebrities such as Vijay Deverakonda and Kajal Aggarwal.
